When to visit

If possible, try avoid the rainy June and hot and humid summer. Despite frequent showers, spring is a pleasant times to go see the cherry blossom. During peak fall, the leaves of the maple and ginkgo trees turn red and yellow, presenting a beautiful scenery at every turn.

Itinerary

Day 01 Tokyo – Mt. Fuji – Hakone – Kyoto (L)
Morning transfer from Tokyo to Mt. Fuji area (2.5 hours). Take cable car up to Mt. Fuji 5th Station, 7500 ft above sea level for breathtaking views from above the clouds. After Japanese style lunch, take sightseeing cruise on Lake Ashi which formed from volcanic eruption nearly 3,000 years ago and provides postcard views of Mt. Fuji from various angles. Afterwards, take a 50 mins cable way up to the peak of Mt. Komagatake and visit the spiritual Hakone Shrine Mototsumiya. Later afternoon, take train to Kyoto (2-2.5 hours). Arranged taxi will transfer to hotel for check-in.

Day 02 Kyoto – Nara – Kyoto (L)
Morning tour visiting Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion and Kyoto Imperial Palace (closed on Sat and Sun). After lunch, transfer to Nara and visit Todaiji Temple, Nara Park, Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Nara Nagomikan handicraft center. Return back to Kyoto in early evening.
