Singapore – Forest of the future

Diners with a head for heights will soon be able to enjoy dinner at “Supertree Bistro” situated atop a 50 meter high “Supertree” in Bay South at Gardens by the Bay.

Although its official name has not been declared yet, the 80-seat bistro is scheduled to open in June 2013. It is part of an ambitious project that will boast 18 “Super Trees” soaring to a maximum height of 16 floors.

The concrete and steel tree trunks are currently being covered with vertical planters that will hold more than 162,000 plants, of some 200 species, while vast canopies made from metal rods will provide a cooling shade.

The 50-meter “Supertree Bistro” will offer a panoramic view of the gardens and the surrounding Marina Bay area. Gardens by the Bay is a SD$1 billion project situated adjacent to Marina Bay Sands that will offer a number of interesting possibilities for theme parties and MICE events.
