Starwood skis into Asia-Pacific

With the winter sports season underway in the northern hemisphere, skiers have an exciting new option with the recent opening of Starwood Hotels and Resorts’ first dual-branded ski resort in China.

The Westin Changbaishan and Sheraton Changbaishan resorts are located adjacent to the slopes of northeast China’s Changbai mountain range, near the border with North Korea, in the province of Jilin.

The opening marks Starwood’s first foray into the ski sector in the Asia-Pacific region. The complex is situated in the biggest ski field in Asia; with 43 ski lanes; and 7.1-km of cable cover that can accommodate 8,000 skiers. Skiers have access to both downhill and cross-country trails.

Changbaishan is home to a UNESCO-listed nature reserve, alpine lakes and hot springs. The Westin and Sheraton complex has access to Yingfu Expressway and Changbaishan Airport which provides direct flights to Beijing and Shanghai.

The two resorts are joined by a bridge so guests can easily access either hotel. Facilities include six food and beverage outlets, heated indoor swimming pools and fitness centres.
